The Fortune Telling Teacup is a tool designed for Tasseomancy, the ancient practice of reading tea leaves to divine the future. This teacup often features printed symbols on its interior, which aid in interpreting the patterns formed by leftover tea leaves after drinking. Using this cup, readers can easily match the leaves' positions and shapes with these symbols to deliver intuitive insights.

To perform a reading, you start by drinking a cup of loose-leaf tea while focusing on a question or intention. Once finished, any remaining liquid is swirled in the cup, and then the cup is inverted onto a saucer to let excess liquid drain. The tea leaves left behind create shapes and patterns on the cup's inner surface. The reader interprets these symbols using intuition or guides, focusing on the cup's zones: near the handle (personal life), the rim (near future), middle (present), and bottom (long-term or subconscious matters).

This practice is thought to have originated in ancient China with the advent of tea drinking. It spread to Europe in the 17th century via trade routes. European fortune tellers adapted it, creating the modern divination methods we recognise today. The symbols and methods have evolved, but the practice remains rooted in intuition and personal interpretation, often blending cultural beliefs and individual insight.

The bowl of the cup has a diameter of 11cm.
